The standard we build to

What that means in practice

• Every text and background pair on this site is checked against the WCAG AA contrast ratio using a script rather than by eye.
• Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard alone, including the navigation menus, the accordions and every form.
• Focus is always visible. We use a brass focus ring that clears both the light and the dark grounds on this site, and we never remove focus outlines.
• Pages use semantic landmarks and a single, correctly ordered heading structure, and every page has a skip link to the main content.
• Forms use real labels tied to their inputs, and error messages say what is wrong and how to fix it rather than just marking a field red.
• Images and diagrams carry real alternative text. Every diagram on this site is hand-authored SVG with a title and a description rather than a decorative picture.
• The site has one animated moment, on the home page, and it is disabled entirely when your system is set to reduce motion.
• The layout works down to 375 pixels wide without horizontal scrolling. Tables and diagrams scroll inside their own container rather than forcing the page sideways.

Known limitations

• Some data tables in the knowledge center are wide and scroll horizontally inside their container on small screens. The content is reachable but comparing columns is harder on a phone than on a desktop.
• PDF and document downloads provided by third-party funding partners are outside our control and may not meet the same standard. If you receive one you cannot use, tell us and we will get you the information in another format.
• We have tested with keyboard navigation and automated tooling. We have not yet completed a full audit with users of screen readers and other assistive technology, and we intend to.
